PSYCHOLOGICAL CUM CAREER COUNSELING AND PLACEMENT CELL

Vision And Mission
The Psychological cum career Counseling and placement cell was established in the year 2001 with the intent of providing ample opportunities for expression of talent, creating positive atmosphere for tapping the potentials of youth, utilizing available resources in the best possible ways and creating opportunities for generating employment by enhancing the employability potential and skill of the students. The major focus of the counselling cell is to integrate learning with psychological well-being, positive mental health and self-regard.
The counselling cell complements the aims and objectives of education in multiple ways, such as:
· Ensuring that the courses and study programs offered by the institution are designed as per the aptitudes of the students.
· Arranging workshops and consultation programs for teachers and expose them to innovative pedagogies.
· Identify students with diverse as well as special needs and cater to those needs.
· Diagnosis and timely intervention of problem faced by students and faculty, particularly of a psychological nature.
· Creating cordial atmosphere within the institution through which students can express themselves and faculty can advocate their genuine demands and concerns.
· Incorporating diversity in learning experiences of both the students as well as faculty members through their outreach and capacity building programs.
Mandates of the counselling cell:
· Work in unison with IQACs of the institutions to assure quality in education and increase productivity.
· The cell would occupy a central position with regard to organizing faculty development programs in the institutions.
Liaison of the Counselling cells with colleges/ instituations:
The counselling cells performs the following sets of roles in the colleges/Institutions:
· Providing counseling/therapy to students experiencing personal adjustment and/or psychological problems that require professional attention.
· Assisting students in identifying and learning skills which will assist them in effectively meeting their educational and life goals.
· The last role is contributing to a campus environment that facilitates the healthy growth and development of students.
In addition to this, the counselling cell arranges for:
· Individual and group counseling and therapy services which are responsive to the diversity of students experiencing ongoing or situational psychological or behavioral difficulties.
· Crisis intervention and emergency coverage either directly or through cooperative arrangements with other resources on campus and in the surrounding area.
· Programming focused on the developmental needs of students that maximizes their potential to benefit from an academic experience.
· Consultative services to members of the college community that make the environment as beneficial to the intellectual, emotional, and physical development of students as possible.
· Training, professional development and/or continuing education experiences for staff, interns, practicum students, and others in the institution.
