Library Resources


  • Books: For both the courses B.Ed & M.Ed sufficient books are available. Their number is 33,753 including text books 26,606, reference books 2,271 other 4,876.
  • Journals and Magazines: The Library subscribers to a number of journals and magazines. Number and peer reviewed journals are two.
  • Newspapers: Local & State level English, Urdu and Hindi Newspapers are also subscribed viz; The Times of India, The Hindu, The Greater Kashmir, The Rising Kashmir, The Srinagar Times, The Daily Aftab and The Uzma. Employment Newspaper, Weekly newspaper regarding employment information is also subscribed by the college Library for the information of students.
  • Books e-Journals: College has INFLIBINET membership, having access to 51,746 e-books and besides college Library subscribes 3 sage journals. Online journals are 2154 in number. The college gets email ID’s to operate them and also e-access to SAGE publications used for the effective teaching - learning process.
  • Examination Paper and Question Bank: Papers of different examinations of different years both National & State Level. are available here.

Use of Library Resources by Pupil Teachers:

  • To prepare for class tests, final examination and competitive examinations including NET and SLET.
  • To prepare their assignments.
  • Collect data and information for project work and dissertations.
  • Prepare lessons.
  • Research work.
  • Acquire material and information for quiz competitions, seminars, conferences and debates.
  • The staff of the Library is frequently deputed for attending workshops, refresher courses, training courses held by Department of Library Sciences, University of Kashmir.
  • The Library is computerized with software (KOHA).
  • The e-Library comprises of 13(thirteen) computers which are equipped with the internet connection for online browsing of e-journals and other web - based learning resources. This facility is available both for the faculty and the students.
  • The Study material is available for students in e-form on College website www.gcoe kmr.org
  • The College Library has a reprographic facility for all its users which they can avail on all working days. This facility is availed by them on 75% concession from the market rate.
  • The Library subscribes for 9 Magazines Viz India Today, The Out Look, Frontline, Sports Star, Readers Digest, Competitions Success, Education Review, General Knowledge, Down to Earth.
  • Training in competitive exams is provided to the students and access to Library is provided to pupil teachers (in-service & pre-service) after graduating from the Institution.
  • The Library resources, which include all areas of specialized fields, education related to electronic information, A.V. resources are used by the students after graduating from the Institution (without any charge).
  • Students are encouraged to use OHP, CD, DVD whenever needed for giving presentations.
  • The students after graduating and post-graduating are provided the opportunity to take up Research Projects of Women’s studies Centre.
  • The Library of the university trains the Librarians, Assistants and Technical personnel in the automation and other areas. The KOHA software has been provided by the University of Kashmir for Automation of the Library.
  • The separate carols are provided for the study and research purposes.
  • The institution provides training to faculty, teaching, non-teaching and students in the workshops to learn the operations of internet for the up gradation of their research work.
  • The Library of the college has a good collection of books on Special Education and Exceptional Children and their educational provisions which help in the sensitization and awareness regarding the needs, problems and methods to educate the Exceptional Children including physically challenged and gifted ones.
  • The Library has one Heritage Room for Back volumes of Journals and Magazines.
